  • Explore Japan’s most lavishly decorated shrine, the mausoleum of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Highlights include:

    • The famous “See No Evil, Speak No Evil, Hear No Evil” monkeys

    • The intricate Yomeimon Gate

    • Peaceful forested paths and towering cedar trees

Toshogu Shrine Complex (1.5–2 hours)

  • Visit these UNESCO-listed sites near Toshogu. Futarasan enshrines Nikko’s mountain gods, while Rinnoji houses large golden Buddha statues in a serene hall.

Futarasan Shrine & Rinnoji Temple (1 hour)

  • Dine at a local restaurant on specialties like yuba (tofu skin), soba noodles, or tempura made with local mountain vegetables.

Traditional Lunch in Nikko Town (1 hour)

  • Take a scenic ride up the Irohazaka Winding Road to reach this beautiful highland area:

    • Kegon Falls is one of Japan’s top waterfalls (elevator access to lower viewing deck available)

    • Lake Chuzenji offers peaceful lakeside walks and views of Mt. Nantai
